Where have we been?

We have not been on in a while, sorry. Vincent has broncitis, and has been extremely sick. He has been on several different medicines and a steroid. I think today he is finally feeling better. It was pretty scary. He has never coughed as hard as he has now and choking on his phlem scared the crap out of me. 3 nights ago he woke up gasping for air choking on it, I literally had to flip him over to help him. SCARED ME...I have not slept in a week. I am now sick also, yeah for that!

Thankfully my sister has been home for spring break and has slept over just about every night to help us. What a way to spend her break, thanks Auntie Mary!!!! Vincent has been wanting to be held 24/7 and wants to have you next to him at all times. It's SO fun.

I guess this was God's way of helping us grieve Grandma and take our minds off of things.....

I am so ready for nice weather.....I want to take my baby outside to play!

I will have to pick up the camera again, I miss taking pictures. Stay tuned.

Vincent gains an angel...

Photobucket

On Friday morning we were told to go to the hospice center my Grandma was at, it was "time". We arrived at 7:30ish and she was rapidly breathing and not looking very good. By noon her body was really starting to shut down (things that will forever be in my head). We had our last prayers with her, she was anointed with oil, and we recieved communion. At 6:30a.m., Saturday morning, she took her last breath.

We will miss her and have some rough couple of days ahead of us. I truely believe that Vincent has gained an angel to watch over him...Tonight we were looking through pictures and he saw a picture of her and kept saying "Nana", I hope he will remember her forever.

Thanks for everyones support.

Another update...

I have a more detailed update below this post.

Yesterday, she declined more. Her heartrate and breathing has become slower. She did not respond to us talking or touching her. She slept the whole time we where there.

Grandma LOVES gardenia's, so yesterday Mary and I bought her some Gardenia lotion and rubbed it on her hands so she could smell them. She didn't budge. I still can smell the lotion after washing my hands numerous times. I am hoping she can smell them too.

It was a rough day.

Grandma update

Some people have asked so I thought I would post it here....

Grandma is such a fighter, I am not joking. These spurts of energy she gets are amazing. She goes from total sleep, to talking in a matter of seconds. Doctors have given her a few days, Monday the latest. How incredibly sad, seriously. A part of me want to not believe it, but seeing her in this condition almost confirms it.

She is probably under 80lb and is in hospice care at a beautiful hospice center. The people there are amazing, they brush her hair, bathe her and even sit in there and talk to her when no family is visiting. Most the time you talk to her she is sleeping, but she hears EVERYTHING!...Today my dad and I were talking about pictures and seconds later she was awake and talking about pictures.

We have been going everyday....it's a ride, over a hour, but it's worth it. I get a kick out of her reaction when she realizes it's Vincent. Yesterday she threw her arms up and said "my baby" when she saw him, and went back to sleep. When I left I told her I loved her and she said "so, I love you more." She is so funny even in this state.

Today she was trying to wink at me from across her bed and she tried so hard. We were laughing. She said "why is everyone laughing?"...oops.

Let me tell you about these past few days....they are heart breaking, nerve wrecking, sad, happy, memorable, strange, mind-boggling, I can go on forever....I have NEVER gone through anything like this before and let me tell you, this has to be the hardest thing to experience.

We sit there and stare at her, making sure she is breathing, listening to her talk and trying to make out what she is saying, we cry, we laugh, we remember. Today I brought some pictures of her from the past and they make you realize that-she really is sick, and dying, but thank goodness for photos, pictures from when my dad was tiny, pictures of us with her growing up, pictures of her with Vincent, and pictures of her when she was HEALTHY.

She is really starting to call for those that are deceased, her mom and dad especially. Today she said she was drinking with her Uncle, and didn't know what was in the glass....she said she was drinking out of a flask...we couldn't understand what she was saying at the end and she actually got a bit mad and spelled F-L-A-S-K.....it was so funny that she is still so spunky.

Vincent can be down the hall playing and she will hear him while she is sleeping and all of a sudden say...Vincie....He walked in her room and didn't say a word and she sensed he was there....she opened her eyes and started calling for him. They really do have a special bond. Once she decides to leave us, I truely believe she will be Vincent's little angel.

We love her dearly and will miss her for an eternity.

Uncle Billy's hockey game.

Vincent went to Uncle Billy's game and LOVED it. He stood at the glass the whole time and cheered and laughed. Billy is the one with the "C" on his jersey.

They lost but Vincent had a blast. He is still talking about it a week later.

Checkin himself out....

Vincent is amazed with the full length mirror in the bathroom. Strange that he can see his whole self in it.

Tough week.

Sorry for the lack of posts. It's been one crazy week. A serious roller coaster ride that I want to get off of NOW. Grandma Celeste's cancer is eating at her, and last week they told us she had congestive heart failure (CHF). The doctor said that CHF would take her sooner then the cancer and less then a week after those spoken words, Grandma slipped into a coma. How incredibly scary, I mean you know these days will come, but you never know HOW or WHEN. TWO weeks before this happened we were there with her and she was GREAT, dolled up in her make-up, walking around, playing with Vincent, laughing, eating...everything normal. Then BOOM! I can't stand it, I hate it.

She however has come out of the coma, but still drifts into a very deep sleep. She is communicating and is in a ton of pain. Doctors have said days, maybe weeks. Once again, I hate it. She has been taken to a hospice center so that she can get 100% care that she needs. The place looks gorgeous, but breaks my heart thinking....this will be the place where we will say our final good-bye, the place where we will visit her till then, and the place she will take her last breath. I hate this. I hate this part of life.

Thanks for everyones prayers and thoughts.
